The Julie Patel Foundation donated $50,000 to McMaster University in 2018. This gift has been matched by McMaster University for a total Endowment Fund of $100,000. This gift will be matched by the University for a total Endowment Fund of $100,000. The income earned will generate scholarships of approximately $4,000 annually in perpetuity. The scholarship, named The Julie Patel Foundation Award will be disbursed annually to one or more students enrolled in the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine who has attained a high academic average and demonstrates financial need. The scholarship was first awarded in 2021.
